No Business Like Snow Business

There were many names that were given to last week's snowtastrophe, and many reasons to probably hate what happened and blame the city of Chicago for not shoveling your sidewalk or digging out your car or making you wake up an hour earlier to get to work on time. But I choose to remember the third largest snowstorm in Chicago since the weathermen have been keeping track, as the day Wally and I donned our winter mountain climbing gear and trekked to the lakefront as the storm came in for another round of havoc. As the day I got to burn 2000 calories shoveling the sidewalks and the mountain of snow in the backyard of our new house, and treat myself to a hot chocolate afterwards. As the day that Lake Shore Drive was shut down, and blessedly quiet. As the day Wally and I ate dinner at the roachy Melrose Restaurant, which is at the end of the block from our condo. This is monumental because for thirteen years we swore we would never go there, but exhaustion and hunger and the fact that the sushi place was closed, made the decision a no brainer (surprisingly, we didn't get sick).

Here are some photos from that day...
